Omnilook 97 lets you view several popular image formats (.bmp, .dib, .gif, .jpg, .wmf, .emf, .ico, and .cur) using an easy-to-use triple-paned interface. The left pane shows an Explorer tree view; the middle can be configured to display thumbnails of various file types (which can be scaled in real time), animated GIF files, or Explorer details; and the right window lets you view graphics full-size. A toolbar gives you quick access to many commands. Omnilook is fairly speedy because previews are built dynamically. (You can make the program faster by turning on cached browsing, but this feature will use more disk space.) A History option displays the last 200 images you've selected, plus you can add your most-viewed graphics to a Favorites Collection. Omnilook doesn't let you edit images, but you can configure a default editor for selected file types. Other nice features include the ability to create scripts that let you apply external processing on thumbnails; Auto Clip, which lets you send the path of a selected thumbnail to the Clipboard (handy for inserting a selected image into a document); and a Remote Preview option that enables you to look at pictures in a separate window, which can be active on another computer on your local intranet or the Internet. .
